Victoria Series 1

Good ITV drama about the imediate time before the then Princess Victoria became Queen and then the first couple of years if her reign including her romance and marriage to Prince Albert and at the end the birth of their first child. Some of the servants storylines were a bit distracting.

The DVD has some behind the scenes extras.

Dad’s Army (2016)

This is a new film about the Home Guard of Warmington on Sea.  Obviously, it has a new cast (although Jones’s van is apparently the original and the surviving cast have cameos), but the new cast all fill their roles well.  It is refreshing to see a new story about them, and for characters such as Cissy and Dolly Godfrey and Elizabeth Mannering to be given more prominence than they had in the TV series.
