I got a great deal on tickets, ÂŁ13 Upper Circle under the ATG Price Guarantee that was then bumped to a better ÂŁ27 seat in the dress circle as the upper circle was closed. There were other offers available, but ÂŁ13 was still the cheapest seat.
This amusing comedy is a stage adaptation of the Ealing Comedy about a heist. Those of us familiar with the original probably got a bit more out of the in jokes, the limited number of cast members a d limited set, but it was an amusing couple of hours.
I got a ÂŁ15 Rush Ticket from TodayTix to see To Kill a Mockingbird for the second tom- but the first time seeing the recast Atticus.
The play just as good as my first visit, including the understudies on for Mayella Ewell and Mrs Duboise’s maid, and I preferred being in the Royal Curcle to the front row of the stalls as I could see more of the very high stage.
I saw this as part of a 2 show day along with the matinee of & Juliet. Both were Rush Tickets from TodayTix and it took about 15 mins effort if constant refreshing to get this ticket.
It was well with the effort as the show was a very funny show with elements of farce/slapstick and poking fun at some of the weird bits of Shskespears work and the times he wrote in.
It was a sort of sequel to the BBC sitcom with some of the same cast reprising their roles. It covered issues frequently found in Shakespeare’s work including gender fluidity, sexuality, BAME representation and the position of women in society.
It was also exciting to witness my first post-lockdown “show stop”. It was odd at first as David Mitchell and Gemma Whelan just suddenly walked off stage, then announced that there was a problem and asked the audience to remain in their seats, and the curtain lowered. Then David Mitchel came on in front of the curtain to explain it wasn’t a major problem, and they would be continuing soon. They did just that soon afterwards, returning a few lines when they restarted. As the stop was just before the character of Mr Whiskers was introduced, my guess would be a problem with his costume.
I saw this as part of a 2 show day with Upstart Crow in the evening – so the day was Shakespearean-ish themed. I got ÂŁ25 TodayTix Rush Tickets for each show and it wasn’t easy. I didn’t get &Juliet until extra Rush Tickets had been released at about 10.45.
It was worth the effort as the show was more entertaining than I had thought it would be.
It is a musical (with modern songs) about Anne Hathaway trying to improve on the ending of her husband (Will Shakespeare)’s new play Romeo & Juliet – with less death and more empowerment.
I got a ticket from Tkts online saying 52% on the face value of a ticket bar the back of the stalls.
The view was restricted for some parts due to the curved overhang from the circle, so I wouldn’t want to pay over ÂŁ70 face value for a seat where you miss anything.
It is a story about revolutionary France, courage, love, heartbreak, passion, and the resilience of the human spirit whilst faced with issues such as poverty – and being brought up by a couple who will NEVER win parents of the year!
My musical preference is for more lightheartedness, but I am pleased I finally got around to seeing Les Mis and the performance was very good.
Got a ÂŁ25 on the day Rush Ticket from TodayTix in the stalls saving over 2 thirds on face value. It was slightly to the side but a good view.
Peter Andre and Jason Donovan are the big stars, and got big cheers but their roles are small. Andre is Vince Fontane a DJ who appears at various point while Donovan was Teen Angel.
I am familiar with the movie, but this is the first stage production I have seen. There were sine changes to the order of songs and events and some new songs, but it was still enjoyable. The audience was reasonably well behaved and seemed to comply with the requests to not singalong or film until the megamix at the end.
I got a cheap rear stalls ticket but due to lack of sales front of house staff said people at the back could choose to move to empty seats further forward so I moved to J21 – saving over 50%.
This is the 5th production I have seen of this farce and it is as hilarious as ever.
This play was first written and performed in 2018/2019. However, it has many parallels with covid.
I got a ÂŁ25 day seat through TodayTix rush tickets. It was a good central seat in the stalls, that were a little bit far back. Photos of the stage are banned at the Old Vic, so there is no seat view.
It is an issues-based comedy set in a progressive private school that tries to value everyone’s views. When a mumps epidemic arrives, it pits differing opinions against each other. It includes a hilarious online meeting chat projected onto the scenery, which was so funny the audience’s laughter drowned out what those on stage were saying.
I got a ÂŁ30 day sest from the officisl Phantom of the Opera website. The seat was over half price.
The theatre and effects felt a bit dated, but we’re good based on the age of the show. Despite the face value the seat was a partially restricted view but had great legroom.
It isn’t the type of musical I normally like but I enjoyed it more than I thought and was pleasantly surprised by the fact there were some laughs.
