Sarah Palfrey is a retired widow who decides to move into the Claremont Hotel in London which is also the residence of other retired people. She gets to know them and boasts of her grandson, but he doesn’t visit. She falls in the street and is rescued by a writer, they become friends and he agrees to pretend to be her grandson in front of her new friends.
