As the title suggests, this film is set in 1917. It centres around 2 British men who are tasked with a mission to go through the trenches and no-mans-land to stop another British army battalion from going over the top and falling into a trap set by the Germans.
To make it even more urgent, the brother of one of the messengers is in the group due to fall into the trap.
It is shot to look like one endless shot throughout the film, although in reality they just had a lot of long scenes stuck together.
