The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe -Gillian Lynne Theatre – 1pm Sunday 27 November 2022

Got a £25 Rush ticket from Today Tix with a great view. There was a couple of understudues but the production was good and made use of puppets, wires and magic.

It is about 4 siblings who are evacuated in WW2 and they discover the magical world of Narnia through a wardrobe in the share room, where they learn things including not to trust strangers (except perhaps if they happen to be a faun or a beaver) especially if they offer you Turkish delight.

She Said (2022)

This interesting and powerfull film is based on the New York Times investigation into sexual abuse allegations against the then-powerful movie producer (spoiler – now jailbird) Harvey Weinstein (&others), which kick-started the #metoo movement to expose the silence that had surrounded sexual assault and harassment over the years.

Matilda: The Musical (2022)

This is a film adaptation of the stage musical based on the Roald Dahl book about a girl who has to be a little bit naughty to stand up against bullying behaviour.

It was similar to the stage version but some things were changed – no Michael Wormwood or Rudolpho and the songs Loud and Telly were missing. However it was still a good film.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022)

I saw this in Curzon cinemas during the week-long cinema release before it is on Netflix just before Christmas.

This is the second film in the cliched murder mystery franchise where a group of people travel to an isolated island, someone does and you try to work out who did it.

Lavender Hill Mob – Richmond Theatre – 7.30pm Monday 14 November 2022

I got a great deal on tickets, £13 Upper Circle under the ATG Price Guarantee that was then bumped to a better £27 seat in the dress circle as the upper circle was closed. There were other offers available, but £13 was still the cheapest seat.

This amusing comedy is a stage adaptation of the Ealing Comedy about a heist. Those of us familiar with the original probably got a bit more out of the in jokes, the limited number of cast members a d limited set, but it was an amusing couple of hours.

Good Luck Studio – Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford – 2.30pm Thursday 10 November 2022

This is a new Mischief show set around a children’s TV show where things take a sinister turn with a “messy she-goat” situation from a rejected actor.

It is a bit more dark than the previous mischief comedies but has similar farcical play within a play elements.

YAYOI KUSAMA: INFINITY MIRROR ROOMS -Tate Modern

This was a bit surreal, specially the “health and safety” warning about keeping to the path before entering one of the 2 rooms with mirrors and lights.

Cezanne exhibition – Tate Modern

This was an interesting exhibition (free and early morning opening for members) about the life and works of the French post-impressionist artist Paul Cezanne.

To Kill a Mockingbird – Gielgud Theatre 2.30pm Saturday 5 November 2022

I got a £15 Rush Ticket from TodayTix to see To Kill a Mockingbird for the second tom- but the first time seeing the recast Atticus.

The play just as good as my first visit, including the understudies on for Mayella Ewell and Mrs Duboise’s maid, and I preferred being in the Royal Curcle to the front row of the stalls as I could see more of the very high stage.
