Veggie Pret – Smoky Sweetcorn Chowder Side Soup

This smaller version costs ÂŁ2.40, and you can get bread for an extra 60p.

It smells smoky like barbecue sauce and has lots of sweetcorn kernels in it which are the main thing you can taste.

Greggs – Vegan Steak Bake

The price for this currently very popular (and hence hard to find) dish is ÂŁ1.55.

As with the Greggs sausage roll, it has a lattice top to help identify it, but the inside is dark Quorn, with onions, gravy and seasoning.

Personally, I prefer dishes with more vegetables in them, but I understand Greggs want this to closely mirror their meaty steak bake.

It tastes nice and no animals are harmed to make the dish.

Pizza Express – Funghi di Bosco Romana Pizza

The normal cost of this is ÂŁ14.95 (it is cheaper to have a classic base rather than Romana base. I had converted Tesco Clubcard vouchers into Pizza Express ones to save money.

It is a very large and thin base which as slightly soggy due to the tomato sauce. The mushrooms are large, and it tastes good as a step up from the more basic margarita.

Burger King – Veggie Burger

I got this for a reduced price of ÂŁ1.99 via the Burger King app. The normal price of ÂŁ4.49.

This is the only officially vegetarian burger available at Burger King as the Rebel Whopper is cooked with regular Whoppers causes cross-contamination.

This had 2 small spicy bean burger patties, 2 slices of tomato, 2 slices of processed cheese, lettuce and ketchup in a long sesame seeds bun.

The bun was a bit dry, and it took a while as they had a lot of orders for the veggie burger. As it had 2 separate patties next to each other, it made it a bit difficult to eat as the contents kept falling out.

McDonalds – Cheese Dippers

I got these free with the McDonalds app. The normal price is ÂŁ1.69.

You get 4 nugget sized dippers in a bag, along with a dipping pot of spicy tomato sauce.

The dippers have melted cheese inside and have a crunchy coating.

They are described as a side and are not very filling on their own.

Leon – Vegan Chipotle Avocado Burger

The normal price if this is ÂŁ5.95.

This is a spicy addition to the existing vegan options at Leon.

It was tasty and filling, but it was very messy to eat due to the height and the quantity of chipotle sauce and guacamole used. For the price, I would hope for something easier to finish without getting covered in sauce.

KFC – Original Recipie Vegan Burger

This is a new vegan offering from KFC. The normal price is ÂŁ3.99.

It consists of a Quorn fillet coated in KFC’s secret recipe, chopped iceberg lettuce and vegan mayo in a sesame seed bun.

There wasn’t much of the mayo which made it taste slightly dry, but the filletbiselfvwas quite tasty.

McDonalds – Veggie Dippers

I got these via a special offer for 99p on the McDonalds app. The normal price for 4 dippers is ÂŁ3.49.

These are red pepper, yellow pea, tomato and pesto goujons. You get 4 in a box with a choice of 4 dips.

It tasted nice but for what you get I would either except more goujons or a lower price.

McDonalds – Egg and Cheese McMuffin

I got this free with an offer on the McDonalds app. The normal price would be ÂŁ2.09.

It consists of a cooked egg and processed cheese inside a muffin. No sauce is included but you could add some. It tasted a little stodgy. I don’t know if I would be willing to pay full price for it again, unless I was desperate and if so I would probably add some ketchup.

Pure – Sweet Potato Gobi

The price for this is ÂŁ6.85. It wasn’t very spicy, and although it should have cauliflower and kale in the sauce, the one I had was mainly sweet potato. It also has slaw and whole grains and was quite filling.
