This is the 8th film in the saga, and follows Rey as she learns to be a Jedi from Luke, to try to help the resistance side to defeat the dark side led by Kylo Ren and General Hux.
It is assumed the intention was to set everything up for the finale, but the unexpected death of Carrie Fisher who plays Leia makes the ending a little more uncertain.
