The new Downton film continued the stories started in the first film with Tom & Lucy and Andy & Daisy’s marriages, a very brief mention of Edith and Bertie’s (unseen as he was “with a nanny”) baby son and (unfortunately) Violet’s frailty.
There are some red herings in the story lines and a film crew and a trip to France to uncover Violet’s “mysterious past” are the main stories.
Although there is a very sad part, it is expected by most fans and there is a lot of humour with some even during the deathbed scene. It was also nice to see all the servants (except perhaps the hall boy and any extras) seem to end up settled.
