Eureka Day – Old Vic Theatre – 7.30pm Saturday 24 September 2022

This play was first written and performed in 2018/2019. However, it has many parallels with covid.

I got a £25 day seat through TodayTix rush tickets. It was a good central seat in the stalls, that were a little bit far back. Photos of the stage are banned at the Old Vic, so there is no seat view.

It is an issues-based comedy set in a progressive private school that tries to value everyone’s views. When a mumps epidemic arrives, it pits differing opinions against each other. It includes a hilarious online meeting chat projected onto the scenery, which was so funny the audience’s laughter drowned out what those on stage were saying.

Phantom of the Opera – Her Majesty’s Theatre – 2.30pm Saturday 24 September 2022

I got a £30 day sest from the officisl Phantom of the Opera website. The seat was over half price.

The theatre and effects felt a bit dated, but we’re good based on the age of the show. Despite the face value the seat was a partially restricted view but had great legroom.

It isn’t the type of musical I normally like but I enjoyed it more than I thought and was pleasantly surprised by the fact there were some laughs.
