The main patient stories involve a poor single mother who is considering giving her new born baby to her cousin as she is in too much debt, and a patient who is in the neighbouring bed to Sheilagh who is also in danger of miscarriage. We learn a little more about Tom’s background, Nonatus gets a new midwife, keep fit classes start up again, there is some good news for the Turner’s, a garden party and a chariot race.
