This drama is inspired by a true story of a man called Desmond Doyle in Ireland who is a single father after his alcoholic wife abandons him and their 3 children Evelyn, Maurice and Dermot. The courts take the children into church-run orphanages as the law says they can’t stay in a broken home. The film focuses on 9-year-old Evelyn and her father’s fight to bring the family back together.
